Startup bone – don’t do more

November 9th, 2010 No comments

One of the important challenge, during startup building process is to find the minimum. What I mean is: finding the minimum of features, minimum number of people, minimum number of procedures. Startup is about minimum. Don’t build too much, don’t build too little. Don’t scatter your energy.

Startup always goes with high element of uncertainty. It is a journey through the dark forest without any map. Minimum helps to go through that journey without heavy backpack. Without unnecessary effort. From one side of view, startup is for lazy people. For these who like to do less.

Minimum helps to move with higher speed. Speed is everything. Speed is more important than money. If your backpack is light you can run faster. So:

- don’t build heavy product in your startup

- don’t conquer too many markets in one time

- don’t start many marketing campaigns the same time for your startup product

- don’t hire too much people in your startup

- don’t implement sophisticated management methods

- don’t build too many featurers

Let you travel only with essentials.
